Debden Primary Academy : Governor Vacancy

The main role of the Governing Body is strategic.  In consultation with Mrs Gurney, we determine the strategic path for the future development of the school in order to ensure continued improvement.
The Governing Body's key functions are to:
  • Set the aims and objectives of the school
  • Set targets
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making
  • Develop school policies
  • Manage the school budget
  • Act as a critical friend to the head teacher - so be supportive yet challenging
The Governing Body meets formally four times a year whilst the two committees meet twice each term.
There are also three informal meetings where planning and/or training takes place each year.

Debden Primary Academy is looking for a Governor  from the military community.

Could you fill a role on their Governing Body?
Please contact the chair if you would like more information regarding this vacancy : linstephenson@btinternet.com

Boydells Dairy Farm

Boydells Dairy Farm is a small working farm, open to the public and specialises in sheep milking. Set in the beautiful North Essex countryside near WETHERSFEILD, it provides a fun-packed and educational visit for children and adults alike.
Most of the usual farm animals are to be found here, but, unlike other open farms, we give you a guided tour with lots of hands-on stuff. Try your hand at milking a cow, feeding hens, riding a donkey cart or outstaring a llama. But the chief part of your visit will be the sheep milking which takes place in a modern "rapid exit" parlour, milking batches of 18 ewes at a time.

ARMED FORCES – TV LICENCE

Find out how to check if you need a TV Licence when you’re on base, what it covers and how much it costs.

A TV Licence is not included in your monthly food and accommodation charges. In Ministry of Defence (MOD) living accommodation, on or off base, you need to be covered by a TV Licence if you watch or record programmes as they’re being shown on TV or download or watch BBC programmes on iPlayer – live, catch up or on demand. This applies to any provider or device you use, including a TV, desktop computer, laptop, mobile phone, tablet, games console, digital box or Blu-ray/DVD/VHS recorder.

Find out more about watching live TV

It’s your responsibility to check if you need a TV Licence and buy one if you do. The Ministry of Defence fully supports us in applying the law regarding TV Licensing. If we find evidence you’re watching TV illegally, you risk prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000* plus any legal costs and/or compensation you may be ordered to pay.

*The maximum fine is £2,000 in Guernsey. A TV Licence costs £150.50. You can spread the cost with a Direct Debit or pay in one go
