Poppy Pods : FREE to military personnel

CLICK HERE  to find out what facilities they have and available activities

Twenty wooden pods have already been built as free holiday and respite facilities for service personnel, veterans and their families, thanks to £250,000 from the Armed Forces Community Covenant Grant scheme.  A further £50,000 donation from the Brockenhurst Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) will be used to build a communal hub building for visitors to meet, eat and share experiences with other families.

The 20 solar-powered, accessible pods and hub building will be available at a charge for schools, when bookings begin from spring 2016. However, priority will be given to members of the armed services and their families on weekends and during school holiday periods who can enjoy the facilities for free.

Dart2 Service : Taxi Bus

DART2 SERVICE

This is a “taxi-bus” without a timetable. You phone the operator and agree a time for the journey you wish to make and the return journey and how much will it cost?
About this bus service

Demand Responsive Transport (DaRT) is an alternative way of providing access to key services in rural areas. Instead of using fixed routes with fixed stops and times, DaRT customers book journeys with the operator in advance and are picked up from an agreed point – often their own home, a bus stop or local place of interest.

You can use it:
• to go shopping
• attend a health appointment
• get to/from work, school or college
• visit friends

This service is funded by Essex County Council and operated by Arrow Taxis.

Your views: Bus Service to Saffron Walden

David Corke a resident of Wimbish has been preparing a report on the bus service in Wimbish and how it could be improved. The draft report, which willl be discussed at the next Parish Council meeting, is attached.
He would very much welcome some input from the Barracks: both as comments on his report and, more importantly, information on what the present level of bus use is by Barracks residents and improvements they most like to see.
If you could email your thoughts, these will be passed to our UWO as a general view from the Station (wimbishhive@armymail.mod.uk)
Perhaps the sporadic timings would be an issue - but as a non-user it is best to have your opinions.
Many thanks
